INSPIRE India

Corporate Social Responsibility in India

In India, Micro Focus INSPIRE, our company-wide commitment to behaving responsibly, is aligned to our social purpose of helping to equip communities with the right skills to be successful in their digital futures. Together with our charity partnerships and employee volunteering, our efforts aim to achieve meaningful impacts – from helping to provide basic education and nurturing digital skills, to promoting social mobility, inclusion and diversity.

To drive our social purpose and achieve positive outcomes, our initiatives driven by Micro Focus INSPIRE support the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, focusing on No Poverty; Quality Education; Gender Equality; Decent Work and Economic Growth; and Climate Action.

Introducing our Micro Focus INSPIRE India programs

Over the last year, Micro Focus India has helped nurture and enrich the lives of thousands of schoolchildren and students, helping many stay digitally connected to continue their education during COVID-19 lockdowns, and ensuring hundreds from deprived communities are supported with the right skills to thrive in their digital futures. Working with our charity partners, the programs we deliver align to our social purpose and enable us to measure our social impacts and report progress so that we can demonstrate strong social responsibility values.

Over the next year from April 2021 to March 2022, Micro Focus India plans to support the following programs:

The Sri Sathya Sai Annapoorna Trust

The Sri Sathya Sai Annapoorna Trust

The Sri Sathya Sai Annapoorna Trust is a non-profit organisation which provides nutritious breakfasts for school students in rural India and deprived parts of society. In addition, the Trust works with local education authorities to help students complete their schooling.

Micro Focus India has supported the Sri Sathya Sai Annapoorna Trust for the last three years, specifically its flagship Morning Nutrition Program. In 2020, Micro Focus India supported the program which provided healthy and nutritious breakfast meals to over 400,000 children in schools across India to ensure they start each day with a healthy meal.

The Samarthanam Trust for the Disabled

The Samarthanam Trust for the Disabled

Often, those most vulnerable in our communities face digital exclusion and risk getting left behind. As part of our social purpose to address this, Micro Focus India is a partner of the Samarthanam Trust for the Disabled, one of the biggest non-government organisations (NGO) in India. The Trust’s vision is to enable people in disability and distress to lead a dignified life and achieve this through empowering them socio-economically and technologically.

The Trust is focused on promoting education, including special education and employment-enhancing vocation skills especially among children, women, elderly and the differently abled, and livelihood enhancement projects.

This year, Micro Focus will sponsor 150 students to acquire skills-based training through a three-month based residential course at a Livelihood Resource Centre (LRC) and then help them find meaningful employment. The program aims to bridge the gap between employers seeking skilled workers and skilled workers seeking employment.

NASSCOM Foundation

NASSCOM Foundation

The NASSCOM Foundation leverages its position as the social arm of the industry body NASSCOM, to empower lives through technology and work towards creating a truly inclusive India. The Foundation works with IT-BPM member companies of NASSCOM, along with emerging social enterprises to achieve its goals of social transformation and impact through technology for underserved communities across India, with continuous support from the Government.

This year, Micro Focus is supporting the NASSCOM Foundation to deliver a Resurgent Communities program combining relief and upskilling of communities. The aim is to reach 500 people in a community affected by COVID-19. Skills and training are to be provided with a goal of helping 100 members of the community secure meaningful employment.

The Nisvartha Foundation

The Nisvartha Foundation

The Nisvartha Foundation aims to promote college education to poor, rural based students, and provide educational opportunity to those who complete Government schooling having achieved excellent academic performance. It focuses on supporting, mentoring and ensuring completion of higher education as well as covering financial expenses incurred toward tuition fees, conveyance, uniforms, stationery and textbooks. Mentors help the student to overcome all non-financial challenges such as moving away from their community and into a hostel to take up their studies, and ensures they complete their education.

Through our support, Micro Focus will fund 20 students’ academic fees for the year. In addition to funding their higher education, Micro Focus India employees will also volunteer as mentors to guide the students during their studying, helping them stay engaged and focused so they can achieve top results. Through our sponsorship, the students can complete their studies in their chosen fields, which include computer science and technology engineering.

Our Ambition to INSPIRE a Million Lives

To help communities around the world impacted by COVID-19, Micro Focus has partnered with a variety of non-profits and charities to support people in need and help eliminate digital exclusion – our goal is to INSPIRE a Million Lives.

INSPIRE a Million Lives further drives our focus on assisting people affected by COVID-19 and responding to digital exclusion by building long-term and sustainable partnerships that deliver measurable impact. In India, Micro Focus is partnering with UNICEF to ensure that children everywhere can access their right to learn. Together we are reimagining education by strengthening national education systems, improving the quality of learning and helping children and young people around the world to thrive in a digital future.
