The Sri Sathya Sai Annapoorna Trust is a non-profit organisation which provides nutritious breakfasts for school students in rural India and deprived parts of society. In addition, the Trust works with local education authorities to help students complete their schooling.
Micro Focus India has supported the Sri Sathya Sai Annapoorna Trust for the last three years, specifically its flagship Morning Nutrition Program. In 2020, Micro Focus India supported the program which provided healthy and nutritious breakfast meals to over 400,000 children in schools across India to ensure they start each day with a healthy meal.
Often, those most vulnerable in our communities face digital exclusion and risk getting left behind. As part of our social purpose to address this, Micro Focus India is a partner of the Samarthanam Trust for the Disabled, one of the biggest non-government organisations (NGO) in India. The Trust’s vision is to enable people in disability and distress to lead a dignified life and achieve this through empowering them socio-economically and technologically.
The Trust is focused on promoting education, including special education and employment-enhancing vocation skills especially among children, women, elderly and the differently abled, and livelihood enhancement projects.
This year, Micro Focus will sponsor 150 students to acquire skills-based training through a three-month based residential course at a Livelihood Resource Centre (LRC) and then help them find meaningful employment. The program aims to bridge the gap between employers seeking skilled workers and skilled workers seeking employment.
The NASSCOM Foundation leverages its position as the social arm of the industry body NASSCOM, to empower lives through technology and work towards creating a truly inclusive India. The Foundation works with IT-BPM member companies of NASSCOM, along with emerging social enterprises to achieve its goals of social transformation and impact through technology for underserved communities across India, with continuous support from the Government.
This year, Micro Focus is supporting the NASSCOM Foundation to deliver a Resurgent Communities program combining relief and upskilling of communities. The aim is to reach 500 people in a community affected by COVID-19. Skills and training are to be provided with a goal of helping 100 members of the community secure meaningful employment.
The Nisvartha Foundation aims to promote college education to poor, rural based students, and provide educational opportunity to those who complete Government schooling having achieved excellent academic performance. It focuses on supporting, mentoring and ensuring completion of higher education as well as covering financial expenses incurred toward tuition fees, conveyance, uniforms, stationery and textbooks. Mentors help the student to overcome all non-financial challenges such as moving away from their community and into a hostel to take up their studies, and ensures they complete their education.
Through our support, Micro Focus will fund 20 students’ academic fees for the year. In addition to funding their higher education, Micro Focus India employees will also volunteer as mentors to guide the students during their studying, helping them stay engaged and focused so they can achieve top results. Through our sponsorship, the students can complete their studies in their chosen fields, which include computer science and technology engineering.
