Novell's newest Linux certification has broken into the Top 10 “Hot Certs” for 2005, an annual ranking of technical certifications by CertCities.com, a leading certification publication. The Novell Certified Linux Professional (CLP) joined certifications from Cisco, Microsoft and others as most likely to see significant growth over the next year. In preparing its rankings, CertCities.com looked at both reader survey data on future certification plans and at “buzz” in the industry and among experts around certifications
“It' is very encouraging to see the Novell CLP generate such pervasive interest so quickly,”said Dan Veitkus, vice president of worldwide training services for Novell. “Novell is working aggressively to enable clients to deploy and leverage Linux in their enterprise. For Novell and our partners to be successful, customers have to know there are trained technicians out there who know how to deploy, support and optimize Linux solutions. Novell Linux certifications give them the required comfort level to embrace Linux.”
Novell's Certified Linux Professional program, just launched in September 2004, recognizes expertise in deploying, configuring and managing the the SUSE LINUX Enterprise Server platform. A pioneer in hands-on testing for certifications, including for the Novell CLP, Novell requires that its certifications reflect real-world capabilities and knowledge. Customers can deploy Linux from Novell knowing that their Novell certified staff have the skills to maximize their Linux investment.
