GWAVA announces the expansion of Retain Mobile Unified Archiving to include BlackBerry® 10. With Retain Mobile, organizations can securely archive mobile communications for BlackBerry® smartphones.

This expansion continues to reinforce the strong relationship between GWAVA and BlackBerry. GWAVA and BlackBerry have been working together for more than five years to provide security and archiving value to BlackBerry enterprise customers.

Thousands of organizations use Retain Mobile for BlackBerry to ensure compliance with archiving regulations, monitor and archive SMS/MMS, PIN, BlackBerry® Messenger (BBM™) and phone usage data. This archived data can be instantly searched, retrieved and published from one unified archive.

“With the expansion of Retain Mobile, organizations that have migrated to the BlackBerry 10 platform can rest assured that they can maintain compliance with all regulations and monitor and archive mobile communications,” said Ken Muir, Chief Executive Officer of GWAVA.

“BlackBerry values the ongoing relationship with GWAVA as well as their commitment to bringing a high level of data retention capabilities to our enterprise customers,” said Martyn Mallick, VP of Global Alliances and Business Development at BlackBerry.

Many organizations that need to comply with electronic communications regulations, such as FINRA, NCAA, SEC, HIPAA, SOX, FERPA and sunshine laws, are also using the BlackBerry enterprise solution within their organization. Retain Mobile has enabled universities to remain compliant with NCAA regulations. The policy states, “Evolving technology presents unique challenges in recruiting. The NCAA position states new technology can be used so long as it complies with the spirit and, where updated, the letter of already existing guidelines. For example, schools cannot text prospective student-athletes at any time…” Because of these policies, many NCAA universities have completely banned athletic department staff from texting on mobile devices. With Retain Mobile, universities have turned texting back on, and employees can once again communicate effectively and appropriately via text.
