Novell Continues to Improve Productivity of Mobile Workers With New Product Releases

Newly upgraded Novell iPrint and Novell Filr demonstrate commitment to delivering print and file access to users across devices and locations.

Novell® today announced strategic updates to its mobile portfolio giving employees working from mobile devices the freedom and access to be fully productive, while providing IT the luxury of leveraging the organization's current infrastructure. This allows IT to take full advantage of existing investments and eliminates the need to duplicate work.

Printing is a critical, yet ignored, necessity for the mobile worker. Novell iPrint 1.1 directly addresses this need as an enterprise-level print solution that simplifies mobile printing from the employee's perspective while leveraging existing security and data governance measures so the IT department can protect its organization. As BYOD trends continue to rise and employees work more on the go, Novell remains steadfast in improving and securing the essential printing function, regardless of where or from what device employees need to print.

"When we were looking at moving our student labs to Windows 8.1 over the summer, our old printing infrastructure was not going to hold up," said Robert Martens, System Administrator at Martin Luther College. "We looked at alternatives and decided to move to Novell's newest iPrint appliance because of how quickly we could get set up, its integration with existing technology for our student print billing and the features it will provide for us as we move faculty and staff to a mobile workflow. We're excited to continue to work with Novell to provide the flexibility we need today and in the future for our people."

Novell iPrint eliminates complex printing environments by working across platforms and devices, and allows organizations to leverage existing infrastructures and print hardware. Novell iPrint 1.1 further simplifies IT work by enabling self-service printer provisioning to an enterprise-grade solution that handles the full range of end user devices from desktop, to laptop, to mobile.

"While desktop printing has been efficient for some time now, the proliferation of mobile devices has created a complex, modern computing environment, reintroducing many printing challenges," said Sam Morris, Director of Product Marketing for Novell. "Novell iPrint offers a single solution to centrally manage printing across multiple platforms, all devices and even multiple office locations."

Complementing Novell's commitment to the mobile worker, Novell continues to drive excellence in file sync and sharing solutions for today's mobile enterprise with its impending release of Novell Filr 1.1. Novell Filr creates win-win scenarios between IT and mobile workers by blending the access and usability that workers have become used to with the security and control that IT already has in place. The latest version of Novell Filr will make mobile file access even easier, with performance, sharing and LDAP improvements that enhance capabilities for end-users and IT management. As today's workplace becomes increasingly digital, Novell Filr 1.1 and Novell iPrint 1.1 work together to make the mobile file and print experience as seamless and productive as possible for employees and IT administrators.
