Novell today announced that its Novell® Nsure™ solution has once again been recognized as the industry leader in secure identity management, this time by Media LLC’s Network Computing through its Well-Connected Award for Identity Management. The award was judged by reviewers and editors of the publication based on performance and testing in an enterprise environment.

Network Computing senior technology editor, Lori MacVittie, who reviewed the products for this award, noted, “Novell’s Nsure suite is a flexible, extensible identity-management and user-provisioning system that includes a nifty platform-agnostic, proxy-based resource access-control component. Novell’s canned driver support encompasses a multitude of existing directories [and systems]. The capability to selectively filter data passed between any two disparate systems is unique and provides fine-grained control over replication or exchange of profile and authentication data. We found the suite easy to manage using its Web-based console, and developers can extend its APIs to integrate custom-developed applications. Novell’s work-flow offering is flexible and highly customizable as well, letting users automate business-specific processes for managing the provisioning process.”

Novell Nsure products continue to garner industry recognition as this award follows a recent win in SC Magazine’s Readers’ Trust Awards. Novell Nsure provides secure identity management solutions that help organizations open up their network resources to employees, customers and partners with the confidence that the right resources are being delivered to the right people. With broad support for operating platforms and industry standards, companies can implement a solution that fits their unique business challenges without disrupting their current infrastructure.

“Identity management is a critical component of any IT infrastructure,” said David Litwack, Novell senior vice president, Nsure and exteNd™. “Proper control of identity, with related roles and policies, is increasingly recognized as a necessary enabler for the new wave of secure, personalized, business initiatives. This award underscores the importance of having a strong identity management solution and reaffirms Novell’s leadership position in this market.”

Novell GroupWise® 6.5 was a finalist for Best Enterprise Groupware Server in this year’s Well-Connected Awards. GroupWise 6.5 for Linux recently shipped, giving customers the ability to choose the network platform they want while still being able to take advantage of a world-class enterprise collaboration solution.

“The Well-Connected Awards are the only industry awards given by technologists based on real-world product testing and evaluation. We view all products, technologies and services from the same perspective as our readers—our peers—do,” said Fritz Nelson, vice president and group publisher of Network Computing Enterprise Architecture Group. “This is an important distinction from any other awards program. The products selected in the Well-Connected Awards are unique because they have been tested over an enterprise by our editors themselves. They are truly innovative solutions that work.”
