3 April 2007

GWAVA, Novell's largest GroupWise partner, announced today that all GWAVACon conferences worldwide are now free to attend. GWAVACon is the largest independent GroupWise conference and is held annually in three locations: Dallas, Texas; Sydney, Australia; and Berlin, Germany.

“Creating opportunities for GroupWise customers to have easy access to training and user communities has always been important to Novell,” said Kent Erickson, vice president and general manager of Workgroup Solutions for Novell. “We applaud GWAVA's decision to open the doors to GWAVACon to attendees for free, which means more people worldwide can take advantage of the extensive GroupWise and GWAVA training offered at these events.”

The event has grown from a small conference focused on certification training into an event that has been attended by thousands of participants around the world. Conference activities can include in-depth discussions on new functionality from Novell GroupWise, face to face discussions with Novell Engineering staff, keynotes from Novell Executives, as well as certification training on GWAVA technologies.

“GWAVACon continues to grow and remains an important event for GroupWise customers everywhere,”said Richard Bliss, vice president of marketing at GWAVA. “With many IT departments considering moving to the more flexible, scalable and cost efficient Novell GroupWise platform rather than upgrading to Microsoft Exchange 2007, we anticipate that GWAVACon will take on even more importance as an industry for prospective GroupWise customers in addition to our strong base of existing GroupWise users.”

GWAVACon is about complete solutions for Novell GroupWise with many third-party vendors using GWAVACon as a platform to launch new products and solutions for GroupWise. With Novell's recent announcement of Novell Teaming + Conferencing, Novell customers will be able to take advantage of new team workspace and real-time collaboration capabilities.

With the growing importance of Linux in data center deployments, GroupWise has seen an increase in interest from organizations looking to move to a low cost alternative. GroupWise is a low cost alternative. GroupWise is a popular messaging and collaboration tool among state and local governmentsbecause of its proven uptime record and security from cyber attacks.
