Novell Delivers Industry's Most Comprehensive Systems Management Solution

ZENworks Configuration Management provides advanced policy-based management while reducing IT cost and complexity for Windows environments

14 August 2007

Novell today announced the worldwide availability of Novell® ZENworks® Configuration Management, the latest addition to its systems management portfolio that helps companies reduce IT complexity while lowering costs. This flexible, easy-to-use solution for configuration management allows companies to add patch, asset and endpoint security management capabilities to meet the specific needs of their IT environments. As a result, companies can centrally manage their IT resources to meet compliance and auditing needs, ease costs, improve security, and streamline business processes.

"Managing and maintaining our IT systems to ensure that our users have the tools they need when they need them used to be a labor-intensive, manual process for our IT staff," said Brad Staupp, senior support analyst at Johnson County Community College. "With ZENworks Configuration Management we drastically reduced the cost and time spent administering our IT environment, freeing up our staff to focus on more strategic projects that help increase user productivity and service delivery."

ZENworks Configuration Management provides the critical information and tools companies need for regulatory compliance, asset and license auditing, business continuity and process improvement. With integrated, best-in-class enterprise reporting from BusinessObjects* incorporated in ZENworks Configuration Management, IT administrators can turn raw data into actionable reports for better decision making and process management. The ZENworks Control Center, an integrated console, allows administrators to easily address configuration, reporting, patch and asset management from a single location.

For organizations looking to mitigate growing security threats, ZENworks Configuration Management Advanced and Enterprise editions provide robust endpoint security management technology from the recently announced acquisition of Senforce Technologies. These tools protect endpoint devices from malware, data theft and unauthorized wireless access. Additionally, advanced asset and patch management capabilities ensure accurate and secure systems, while reducing the time and effort spent tracking licenses or patching vulnerable desktops.

"Customers are looking for comprehensive solutions to help them reduce complexity and simplify management," said Joe Wagner, senior vice president and general manager of Systems and Resource Management at Novell. "In less than 30 minutes, users can install ZENworks Configuration Management and start to experience a new level of reduced administration, tighter security and compliance, and higher user productivity."

The first management solution on the market to natively support both Microsoft* Active Directory* and Novell eDirectoryTM, ZENworks Configuration Management enables identity-based systems management, giving customers greater flexibility and choice in managing their IT infrastructures. The product runs on Microsoft Windows*, Linux* and Novell Open Enterprise Server for Linux, enabling customers to choose the platform that works best for their environments. This powerful management solution automates software setup, updates, healing and migration for various Windows operating systems, including Windows Vista*.

ZENworks Configuration Management is available in Standard, Advanced and Enterprise editions, allowing customers to choose the edition that matches their management and security needs. The Standard Edition is available for $70, Advanced Edition for $114 and the Enterprise Edition for $225. A limited time promotion offers qualified customers an upgrade to ZENworks Configuration Management Enterprise for $83.
