Trusted Cloud Initiative Update - Cloud Security Alliance Research Report is Baseline for Security Certification Criteria

27 April 2010

The Cloud Security Alliance (CSA) has announced completion of important milestones in its Trusted Cloud Initiative. The CSA announcements include new publicly available research as well as published working group structure.

In March, 2010 Novell and the CSA, announced a vendor-neutral initiative to deliver the industry's first cloud security certification, education and outreach program for cloud providers. Known as the "Trusted Cloud Initiative," it will help cloud providers develop industry-recommended, secure and interoperable identity, access and compliance management configurations, and practices. Now, organizations considering adopting cloud-based computing will have a trusted standard to alleviate concerns about security, governance and control of their data and IT assets.

The research report will serve as the baseline for the Trusted Cloud Initiative, a certification criteria that all cloud providers can use to assure secure and interoperable identity management in the cloud. The report is an in-depth look at identity and access management control issues in the cloud, delving into how organizations can best manage provisioning, authentication, authorization, federation and compliance in the cloud.

The report lists what enterprises need to ask cloud providers in order to assess readiness before adopting a cloud-based identity and access management program.
