Intellisync to Provide Wireless Push Email for the Novell GroupWise Collaboration Platform

Leading Provider of Wireless Software Solutions to Expand Reach for GroupWise Customers Worldwide

8 November 2005

Intellisync Corporation (Nasdaq: SYNC), the leader in platform-independent wireless messaging, and Novell (Nasdaq: NOVL) today announced that Intellisync has been selected to provide real-time wireless push email and Personal Information Management (PIM) for Novell® GroupWise® customers worldwide. The wireless messaging technology from Intellisync will be embedded into Novell GroupWise 7. As a result, Novell customers will have access to “any platform, any device” support for wireless messaging and collaboration.

The agreement between the two companies marks an important milestone in the wake of increased adoption of mobile devices in the enterprise.

“In a world where collaboration software is fast becoming a hub for making decisions and doing business, mobile access is critical for users,” said Jeff Hawkins, Novell vice president of product management for Linux*, Open Source Platforms and Services. “With Intellisync, GroupWise customers worldwide will have secure access to their collaboration resources from virtually any device, on any platform, in any region of the world.”

“This agreement is a significant milestone in the mobile software industry,” said Clyde Foster, chief operating officer of Intellisync. “By integrating Intellisync’s leading wireless email and PIM platform directly into the GroupWise platform, we can help Novell customers connect and synchronize nearly any mobile device to their Novell GroupWise accounts and eliminate the need for third-party mobile middleware to enable true push wireless email. We are delighted that Intellisync was selected to support a leading corporate collaboration platform such as GroupWise.”

An important differentiator for Novell GroupWise is its ability to run on multiple enterprise operating systems. "Novell's commitment to providing real platform choices gives customers the flexibility and the opportunity to select the operating system that works best for them," said Mark Levitt, vice president for Collaborative Computing IDC. "The new wireless capabilities provide another set of options to customers looking for better mobile access to their collaboration platforms."

Under the agreement, Novell plans to offer customers real-time wireless push email on nearly any data-enabled mobile device. Intellisync currently supports nearly all mobile devices for wireless email and more. Novell will launch a beta program starting in January. Customers with current maintenance agreements can take advantage of the new wireless and third-party integration features at no extra cost as soon as they are available in the first half of 2006.
