Novell Announces Open Enterprise Server 2 Service Pack 1 Public Beta

Novell today announced the public beta of Open Enterprise Server 2 with Service Pack 1 (SP1), which brings interoperability between Linux, Windows, Macintosh and NetWare to the next level. Built on the SUSE Linux Enterprise platform, Open Enterprise Server 2 is the only secure, reliable and scalable alternative to Microsoft that is backed by the best services and support of any commercial Linux distribution on the market.

The latest release of Novell Open Enterprise Server 2 will help organizations simplify their mixed IT environments with improved features and functionality, including Domain Services for Windows for full Active Directory integration; enhanced Apple Filing Protocol (AFP) and Common Internet File System (CIFS) support for enterprise-class network scalability; and improved upgrade utilities that make deploying and managing Open Enterprise Server 2 easier than ever. Designed to handle mission-critical computing needs while leveraging the cost-benefits of Linux, Open Enterprise Server 2 helps customers simplify the management of their heterogeneous infrastructures without the costs and risks of rip-and-replace migrations.
