New Novell Client for Windows Released

Extends support lifecycle for tool that connects Windows XP and Windows 2003 client to Open Enterprise Server

16 April 2009

Novell today announced key updates to the Novell Client for Windows that enables Novell Open Enterprise Server connectivity. This major revision of the Novell Client, which allows a Windows Vista workstation to login to Open Enterprise Server or NetWare, includes performance enhancements and adds support for Windows Server 2008. Additionally, in response to the slow adoption of Windows Vista, the continued interest in Windows XP and the growing opportunity for Linux desktops, Novell is announcing the extension of support for Novell Client 4.91 for Windows XP/2003 by eighteen months to October 2010.

The updated Novell Client supports Windows Vista Business, Enterprise and Ultimate Editions as well as Windows Server 2008 on both x86 and x64 architectures. In addition, Novell is working closely with Microsoft to ensure that the Novell Client is fully compatible with Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 when they are released.
