GWAVA Announces GWAVA 3.0 Message Security

Newest edition of company's flagship product will allow customers to build, modify rule sets based on their organization's specific use of e-mail

22 March 2004

GWAVA, a provider of eSecurity software solutions, today announced its plans to release GWAVA 3.0, the only e-mail surveillance, policy enforcement, archive, retrieval, anti-spam and anti-virus tool that is specifically designed to protect Novell GroupWise(R) systems from the inside out.

GWAVA is a Novell YES Tested and Approved product that sits inside Novell GroupWise systems and serves as an internal security solution that protects users from both internal and external threats. However, unlike other eSecurity solutions that sit at the perimeter and are only able to scan Internet e-mail traffic, GWAVA 3.0 has the ability to scan a company or organization's live internal and Internet e-mail traffic.

Other GWAVA 3.0 capabilities include:

E-mail Surveillance
Once a company establishes an e-mail policy, GWAVA 3.0 can monitor employee e-mail for inappropriate content by decrypting and reading e-mail that passes between employees, enabling human resource departments to simultaneously enforce compliance with company e-mail policies and protect themselves against potential legal liabilities.

Anti-Virus
GWAVA 3.0 can be integrated with nearly any standard anti-virus product, and has the unique ability to scan an organization's e-mail database for viruses even after a virus has entered the GroupWise system.

Archive/Retrieval
Allows corporations running GroupWise to collect data from their GroupWise systems and transfer that data to an e-mail archive solution. And, in the event that a customer hasn't implemented an e-mail archive solution, GWAVA can store the collected data in MIME or Zip files on the customer's company server.

Anti-Spam
Provides an advanced heuristics engine that scores each e-mail and determines the likelihood of whether or not it is spam.

"E-mail security has become a paramount issue for organizations of all sizes, whether threats are posed externally by spam or viruses, or internally by employees who exchange e-mails that contain intellectual property or other sensitive information," said Richard Bliss, vice president of marketing for GWAVA. "In order to protect themselves from these kinds of threats, organizations need tools to enforce e-mail policies. And, GWAVA 3.0 will provide business and organizations with the e-mail surveillance tool they need to protect their systems from the inside out."

NEW PRODUCT FEATURES

Auto-Spam Rule Builder
Enables administrators to build and modify a rule set based on their company's specific definition of spam and e-mail usage. This "smart" utility allows the system to automatically take what it learns about how spam is being defined, and continue to hone its skills over time, resulting in fewer false positives, fewer false negatives and less work for administrators.

Multi-Spam Thresholds/Multiple Actions
Significantly reduces the likelihood of legitimate messages being tagged based on a specific set of criteria. The result? Far fewer false positive blocks, and little to no use of the archive viewer to release e-mail because borderline spam/legitimate mail is only tagged instead of blocked.

Reporting
Provides administrators with a way to customize logs, specify the kind of data they want saved (e.g. subject, intended recipient, the size of the message, etc.) and designate how they want their data configured. This reporting tool can also be used to generate specific data and export data findings into a variety of report formats, such as a GWAVA 3.0 report, a Crystal Report or Microsoft Excel spreadsheet.

Support for Protected Memory
Allows enterprise customers to use GWAVA and GroupWise in a clustered environment.
