Novell Helping NetWare Customers Kick the Tires of Linux

18 May 2004

Novell today unveiled a promotion designed to show existing Novell customers how Novell's Linux offerings can add value to their businesses today, as well as to prepare them for the upcoming release of Novell Open Enterprise Server.

The promotion, which runs through the end of this year, allows NetWare customers with active Novell maintenance or upgrade protection agreements to use SUSE LINUX Enterprise Server 8 and Novell Nterprise Linux Services 1.0 under their existing licensing agreements today, with the opportunity to move to Open Enterprise Server when it becomes available.

The ability to use these key Linux products from Novell under current licensing agreements provides a convenient way for customers to begin exploring Linux and to see firsthand how SUSE LINUX Enterprise Server 8 and Nterprise Linux Services 1.0 can provide the superior management capabilities and networking services they've grown accustomed to receiving from Novell. They know the strengths of NetWare, and now they can see the strengths of Novell networking services on Linux, running and managing them in a mixed NetWare/Linux environment.

Qualifying customers can download the software from the Novell Web site at http://www.novell.com/bridge. Use of the software is restricted to the terms of customers' existing Novell license agreements, including supported users, applications or workloads. NetWare customers without maintenance or upgrade protection are not eligible to participate, but if they enter a maintenance or upgrade protection agreement with Novell, they can immediately take advantage of this promotional offer.

Due later this year, Novell Open Enterprise Server is a solution comprised of SUSE LINUX Enterprise Server, NetWare and a rich collection of networking services (including Nterprise Linux Services) which will transparently interoperate between the two environments.
