Novell Identity Manager and Novell ZENworks help Fairchild Semiconductor significantly improve identity and workstation management
Fairchild Semiconductor, a leading global supplier of high performance power products, selected Novell® solutions to automate and manage its diverse, decentralized IT environment. With Novell Identity Manager, Fairchild improved security and audit results with a centralized view of all user information for more than 3,500 employees. With Novell ZENworks®, the company also reduced desktop administrative costs and lowered hardware costs through server consolidation.

Novell Identity Manager synchronizes user information across multiple applications, giving employees access with a single user ID and password. When on the road, employees can now easily access and share files from any location, improving their productivity and significantly decreasing the number of help desk calls. Fairchild also uses Novell ZENworks to manage standardized desktops across its 26 worldwide sites. Application delivery no longer involves traveling or shipping CDs to multiple offices. The company's centralized IT staff can deliver new applications overnight to the local IT staff for easy installation. Inventory tasks, such as license management, and the ability to automatically generate reports are also made easier with Novell ZENworks.
"Because we have several small offices without local IT staff, we take full advantage of the remote control features in ZENworks," Whited said. "For example, we can take over a machine in Shanghai and fix it in minutes. The IT staff no longer needs to travel for software-related PC issues."
