Novell's Secure Identity-based Framework Combines with Hyperion's Business Performance Management Solution for Improved Performance Visibility

Novell (Nasdaq:NOVL) and Hyperion (Nasdaq:HYSL) announced today a partnership to deliver personalized, business-critical information quickly and accurately. Leveraging identity management, portal and data integration technology from Novell, the Novell® exteNd™ secure enterprise dashboard solution can now tap the power of Hyperion's Business Performance Management solutions to deliver a unified view of disparate information, organized in easy-to-use, business-relevant formats. With the secure enterprise dashboard solution, decision makers gain access to the actionable financial and operational data they need to make the right choices for the business.

This secure enterprise dashboard solution will be demonstrated at Solutions 2004, April 25 - 28. Solutions is Hyperion's annual user conference and the world's premier event for Business Performance Management.

"Combining business intelligence solutions with a secure identity-based framework delivers the most critical information for decision making in a timely, safe, and easy-to-digest way," said Joe Forgione, vice president of solutions for Novell. "Hyperion's strong integration with Novell technologies makes it a compelling addition to Novell's secure enterprise dashboard, giving customers an effective new tool to improve decision making within the organization from one of the industry's leading business performance management and business intelligence vendors."

"We increasingly see large organizations opt to embed business intelligence into the enterprise portal framework in order to smash information silos and push intelligence to a broader user community," said Kurt Schlegel, program director for Enterprise Analytic Strategies at META Group. "However, providing business intelligence through a web-based portal to users inside and outside the firewall will require exceptionally strong role-based security and data integration."

"Combining Hyperion's Business Performance Management capabilities with Novell's strengths in role-based security and data integration can help decision makers leverage information more effectively and safely," said John Kopcke, CTO of Hyperion. "This solution enhances the value of information from multiple business systems and teams, giving enterprise decision makers the visibility they need to seize opportunities and respond to challenges.

The Novell secure enterprise dashboard solution enables organizations to access information from virtually any enterprise system - regardless of platform, vendor or format - through a single portal interface. Its underlying secure identity management foundation protects sensitive data from unauthorized access and customizes the information displayed to match the needs of individual users.

Hyperion Business Performance Management software helps companies translate strategies into plans, monitor execution, and provide insight to improve financial and operational performance. It combines the world's leading planning, financial reporting, consolidation and modeling applications with a powerful and scalable business intelligence platform. Hyperion is also known for its easy to use and deploy dashboards, which combine data from Business Performance Management applications, business intelligence and also transactional data sources into a customizable view of performance.

Novell will discuss its dashboard solutions in a break out session at Solutions 2004 on Monday, April 26th. For more information about Solutions 2004, please visit http://www.hyperion.com/conference/
