  • Secure enterprise dashboard recognized by ITSMA for marketing excellence
  • Novell solutions gain acceptance in marketplace by focusing on specific business challenges

Novell today announced it received a Gold Award for Marketing Excellence from the Information Technology Services Marketing Association (ITSMA). The award recognizes Novell's efforts in developing and marketing the Novell® exteNdTM secure enterprise dashboard solution and demonstrates the success of Novell solutions in solving specific business challenges.

Novell received the Marketing Excellence Award in the “Developing New Solutions” category and was among twelve winners announced last night at ITSMA's Annual Marketing Conference. The awards recognize special achievement in marketing technology services and solutions based on innovation, execution and business results.

“Enterprises are looking for more than a quick product sale out of their relationships with vendors. They want to work with providers that partner with them in building strategies and complete solutions to address specific business problems,” said David Munn, president and CEO of ITSMA, a membership-based organization that specializes in helping companies market and sell services and solutions. “In this environment, it is critical that traditional product companies make the shift to become solutions providers if they want to build relevance with customers. Novell was recognized for its understanding of this relationship and the innovation and effectiveness of its marketing programs.”

Novell continues to advance its solutions strategy by focusing on specific business problems, such as gaining control of identity as a foundation for strategic initiatives, eliminating the security risks and high costs of password management, and improving performance through real-time visibility into business intelligence across the enterprise. The company also recently launched its government solutions, addressing the need to improve cost efficiency and effectiveness of government operations. Novell Government Solutions help public sector organizations secure and integrate the information that flows through government systems and deliver the right information to the right people, while providing flexibility of choice, including open source technologies.

Joe Forgione, Novell vice president of solutions, said, “At Novell, we know that business requirements are driving technology decisions in enterprises and government organizations today. We are seeing a positive response from clients over the identity-driven and Linux solutions we offer because they solve specific business problems that have strategic importance.”

The secure enterprise dashboard is one example of Novell's growing success with its solutions, evidenced by the ITSMA award and a number of customers currently implementing dashboard solutions. This customer interest stems from the pressing need for enterprises to gain secure and timely visibility into key performance indicators in order to make informed business decisions. By providing real-time information to authorized users, the solution helps organizations comply with time-sensitive information disclosure regulations, such as Sarbanes-Oxley.c

Virendra Vase, executive vice president of engineering and operations at MetaReward, a subsidiary of Experian*, a global information solutions company and one of the largest credit reporting companies, said, “Getting the right solution to the right place at the right time is essential to our line of business. To meet this challenge, we needed a dashboard that would arm decision makers with more powerful, timely information. Novell is providing us a solution that combines data from all of our systems into a single view and protects this data from unauthorized access.”
