GroupWise Service Pack and GroupWise Mobile Server Now Available

22 June 2006

Novell today announced the availability of Novell GroupWise 7 Service Pack 1 (SP1), which contains a number of code optimizations and new features, including:

  • Mac Intel support
  • Support for shared contacts in the Microsoft Outlook connector
  • Global signatures
  • Support for the iCalendar standard
  • An interactive tutorial in the Help menu
  • Low-bandwidth WebAccess support
  • Improved support for applications using the GroupWise SOAP interface, including Evolution 2.6
  • GroupWise Messenger support for Internet Protocol

In addition, GroupWise 7 SP1 provides the foundation for deploying GroupWise Mobile Server, powered by Intellisync, which is also now available. GroupWise Mobile Server securely synchronizes e-mail, appointments, contacts, tasks and notes between GroupWise and hundreds of mobile devices running on operating systems as diverse as Palm OS, Symbian, SyncML, Windows Mobile, PocketPC, Microsoft SmartPhone OS and BREW.

"We've been looking for a way to meet our clients' wireless handheld needs for years," said Wesley Wingfield, director of network and user services at the Metropolitan Community College in Kansas City, Mo. "After repeated attempts with third-party, half-baked offerings, GroupWise Mobile Server from Novell is by far the best solution we've seen, and it works great."

GroupWise 7 Service Pack 1 is available for download at support.novell.com to customers with current maintenance or upgrade protection. GroupWise Mobile Server is available at no additional cost to GroupWise customers with current maintenance or upgrade protection and requires GroupWise 7 SP1. A 90-day evaluation copy of GroupWise Mobile Server can be downloaded at download.novell.com.
