Micro Focus Named a Visionary in 2017 Gartner Magic Quadrant for Identity Governance and Administration (IGA)

Annual Gartner Report Positions Micro Focus Based on its Completeness of Vision and Ability to Execute

15 March 2017

Micro Focus (LSE: MCRO.L), a global enterprise software company helping customers innovate faster with lower risk, today announced that its Identity Governance solutions have been recognized by Gartner, Inc. as Visionary in the 2017 Magic Quadrant for Identity Governance and Administration (IGA)[1].

Gartner recognized Micro Focus as the sole Visionary in the 2017 report for its completeness of vision and ability to execute. Micro Focus offers a product vision and strategy that incorporates functionality for today’s pain points while tightly mapping its vision and strategy to market trends impacting tomorrow’s solution requirements.

According to Gartner, “In today's highly connected IT environment, organizations must manage large numbers of users with different access requirements across many different applications, platforms and operating systems. Most organizations struggle with proliferating user account repositories, and coordinating the management of identities and access rights (roles, group memberships and so on) cross those repositories.” [2]

Micro Focus (NetIQ) IGA solutions help organizations address these key IGA challenges while minimizing organizational risk – and do so in a manner that reduces the burden on Business Managers responsible for user entitlement certification with decision support and identity analytics that can scale to meet even the most complex environments.

“While many of the IGA products on the market meet current use cases, IGA is a maturing market, and there remains a need to improve usability and agility as market demands continue to create more complex user access requirements," said Robert Macdonald, Identity Solutions Strategist at Micro Focus. “We see a market where customers and prospects are searching for solutions that are more flexible, scalable and automated. Our vision and strategy to address tomorrow’s needs and use cases remains central to our IGA development efforts.”

About the Visionaries Quadrant

Vendors in the Visionaries quadrant provide products that meet many IGA client requirements, but may not have the means (such as budget, personnel, geographic presence, visibility and so on) to execute as Leaders do. Due to smaller size, there may be initial concerns among some potential buyers regarding long-term viability. Visionaries are noted for their innovative approach to IGA technology, methodology and/or means of delivery. They often may have unique features, and may be focused on a specific industry or specific set of use cases, more so than others. Visionaries are often the technology leaders in evolving markets such as IGA, and enterprises that seek the latest solutions often look to Visionaries.
