Micro Focus Developer Conferences 2013 to Span Coasts with New York and San Francisco Locations

Conferences bring together industry experts and developer community to discuss the latest in COBOL development

Micro Focus (LSE:MCRO.L), the leading provider of enterprise application modernization, testing, and management solutions, today announced that it will host its annual Developer Conference in two locations this year: San Francisco on April 3-4 and New York on April 9-10. This approach expands on the success of the 2012 Developer Conference and offers enterprise technology thought leaders, industry analysts, partners and users from across the country a greater opportunity to participate. As always, the conference will focus on the latest in application development and best practices for COBOL application developers, looking closely at the areas of mobile, cloud, IT architecture, efficiency and skills development. The conference also provides industry experts from across sectors with an informative and engaging opportunity to learn, share experiences and network.

What: The Micro Focus Developers Conferences are free events that feature keynotes and technical presentations from Micro Focus product experts as well as customer and partner presentations and roundtables. The East and West coast conferences feature similar agendas, with discussion topics including:

  • Deploying COBOL applications with Microsoft Azure
  • Taking the first steps to cloud deployment
  • Embracing Service Oriented Architecture (SOA)
  • Application modernization with Visual COBOL
  • Moving to managed code
  • Making the move to Visual COBOL
  • Honing COBOL and Visual COBOL skills

Who: At each conference event, participants will hear keynote presentations from Kevin Brearley, Micro Focus Director of Product Management, as well as learn from several product and technical presentations given by other Micro Focus product experts. In addition, Sam Malek and Brian Douglas of Transvive will be on hand to discuss the move to Visual COBOL, Microsoft executives will present on the uses of COBOL with Microsoft Azure, and Steve Steuart and Steve Hodges of .idea will join Micro Focus representatives to co-host a session on moving to the cloud.
