Novell Wins Leading Industry Award for Identity and Security Management Solutions

Novell Identity and Security Management portfolio win 2008 CODiE award for Best Security Solution

5 June 2008

The Novell portfolio of identity and security management solutions has won the Best Security Solution category for the 2008 CODiE Awards, an annual program of the Software Industry and Information Association (SIIA) that recognizes achievement and vision in the software industry. This award reinforces the breadth and depth of Novell's identity and security management solutions, which are being deployed by nearly 6000 customers worldwide.

“The CODiE Awards is one of the industry's premiere awards programs and we are honored to have been selected as the Best Security Solution,” said Jim Ebzery, senior vice president and general manager of Identity and Security Management at Novell. “Security continues to be one of the most critical business issues faced by enterprises and we are committed to providing our customers with the best-engineered solutions to address their governance, risk management and compliance challenges. This award for our portfolio of identity and security management solutions demonstrates the integration and ease of implementation inherent in our offerings.”

The CODiE awards, now in their 23rd year, recognize excellence in software, content and education platforms, applications and services. This year, more than 1,100 CODiE nominations were submitted by 600 companies. Finalists in each category were selected by panels composed of software and information industry trade press, mainstream technology writers, analysts, consultants and subject-matter experts. The winners were then chosen by vote of SIIA member companies.

“The 2008 CODiE Awards recognize those companies providing the best new technology products and services across a broad array of industries,” noted SIIA President Ken Wasch. “The awards and their winners are a testament to the power of technology to deliver innovative solutions to American businesses and consumers. SIIA congratulates all of the CODiE Award winners and nominees, whose innovation is essential for continuing America’s leadership in the global knowledge economy.”

The Best Security Solution category honors the product or service that provides the best overall security solution for an enterprise or large network, including authentication, firewalls, virtual private networks, encryption, intrusion detection, policy-based management, managed services, and anti-virus products. This category was won by Novell's portfolio of flagship identity and security management solutions, consisting of Novell Identity Manager, Novell Access Manager, Novell Sentinel and Novell SecureLogin. Novell's identity and security management solutions are widely-deployed across many different heterogeneous IT environments, ranging from Fortune 500 companies to small businesses in a variety of industries including financial services, healthcare, government and education.
