Attachmate Launches Reflection for UNIX, iOS and Android Editions

3 November 2014

Attachmate Corporation, www.attachmate.com, today announced the release of Attachmate® Reflection® for UNIX, iOS and Android editions, the mobile version of its industry-leading terminal emulation software. Reflection for UNIX is the first enterprise-grade SSH client for mobile devices for connecting to UNIX and Linux systems, providing IT administrators with access anytime, anywhere. Attachmate builds on its 30 years of connectivity experience with a native 2-tier VT terminal client, leveraging the reliable Reflection brand synonymous with the UNIX/Linux platform.

"More and more corporate workers are shifting business productivity to their personal devices, as evidenced by the BYOD/BYOA trend. Reflection for UNIX enables IT administrators to leverage modern devices to accomplish real work," said Kris Lall, product manager for Reflection for UNIX at Attachmate. "With native support for iPads and Android devices, IT administrators are no longer chained to the office or required to lug around a clunky laptop or other less portable device. They can quickly complete business critical tasks wherever they may be."

Top features in Reflection for UNIX include:

  • Optimized user experience for maximum efficiency and consistency with modern applications.
  • Support for multiple sessions so administrators can access multiple servers at once and easily switch between them.
  • ConnectBox, which provides a familiar user interface for opening sessions so users can immediately be productive.
  • Enhanced terminal keyboard with a Keybar for faster access to commonly used keys.
  • Support for the SSH encryption security standard to protect data in motion on the network.

"Providing flexible, secure access to information and applications continues to be a mission-critical business requirement - which means that solutions that provide terminal emulation and host access to deeply established, mission-critical business systems are as essential as ever to the modern enterprise," said Derek Brink, vice president and research fellow at Aberdeen Group, A Harte Hanks Company. "In addition, such solutions must also evolve to support an increasingly diverse mix of enterprise endpoints, including traditional clients such as Windows, Mac OS, UNIX, and Linux, as well as thin clients, browsers, smartphones and tablets."

Reflection for UNIX is available for download now from the Apple App Store and Google Play. For more information on Reflection for UNIX, please visit https://www.attachmate.com/products/reflection/unix/.
