Micro Focus employees in Italy and Bulgaria were two of the first teams globally to embrace virtual volunteering as part of Micro Focus INSPIRE. When the Italian and Bulgarian governments announced schools were to close due to the COVID-19 crisis, both education ministries began to roll out virtual classrooms. However, many of the teachers had not worked with the new technologies before and were struggling to get started. Micro Focus employees quickly began to work together, sharing ideas and best practices with each other, and with the schools, including helping install software for the teachers, holding webinars on how to get the best out of Microsoft Teams and, of course, helping their children get set up so they could take full advantage of the daily online lessons.
Said Silviya Pironkova, HR Operations for Italy and Bulgaria: “It was amazing to see how the teams embraced this opportunity, using their own skills and expertise to make a difference in the communities where they live and work. Parents and children find themselves using the same tools and working in the same way in this new environment.”
