Metadata Validation Rules

This function is available on the Manage ribbon - Metadata Validation Rules. It allows you to define your own rules about how metadata should be validated. To use this feature, the "Extended Metadata Validation" in System Options - Features page must be enabled.

NOTE: So as not to degrade the performance of Content Manager, this function is most useful for testing additional fields values.

For example: Display the error message "Claims over $10,000 must be allocated to the top priority work queue" if "ClaimAmount > $10,000" then the criteria "Queue Priority=High" must be satisfied.

Display the following error message: - specify the error message to display when the rule is broken.

When an item meets following criteria: - specify a "condition" for this rule. This is a search string that a record needs to satisfy before the rule is used.

But doesn't meet the test criteria: - specify the actual rule. This is a search string that a record must meet if it satisfies the qualifying condition.

Generate a warning only - display a message, but the record is still created.

Only test for new items - only validate metadata when a record is created from the new record form.

NOTE: Metadata Validation Rules is currently only supported for records.
