Content Manager Render
The Document Rendering feature is a licensed module. For rendering to PDF and TIFs you require the Document Rendering license; to use the OCR Rendering functionality, you also require the OCR Image Processing license. To enable these features, the Document Render must be selected in the System Options Features page.
Content Manager software supports the storage of alternative renditions against the same metadata as the main record.
Organizations use this functionality to store renditions such as OCR text, electronic signatures etc.
Content Manager Render enables users to request renditions for specific records or the rendering process can be fully automated by configuring Content Manager to automatically send checked in electronic documents that meet the configuration requirements Content Manager to the rendering processor.
The rendition type supported is .pdf. .pdf is commonly used for the long term storage of printable documents. Content Manager Enterprise Studio therefore refers to the rendition type as Longevity rendition (.pdf)
- Content Manager adds records to the rendering queue because of:
- user requests
- the automatic rendering processor selecting them based on configurable criteria
- the administrator submitting failed renditions for re-processing
- The rendering processor(s) selects a block of records from the rendering queue and marks them in progress to prevent other rendering processors from selecting the same block
- For each record in the selected block, the rendering processor:
- extracts the document from the store
- prints the document to a rendition file using the rendering printer driver
- adds the rendition to the originating record
- if an error occurred, writes the error to the error table
Once all records in a block have been processed, Content Manager removes them from the queue.
