Document Store Storage Pool tab
Document Stores are used to save new electronic objects into.
When you have more than one electronic document store set up, it is possible to associate these stores to a Document Pool, then Content Manager saves the new electronic object to the best available store. To add a Document Store to a Document Store Pool, on the Document Store - Storage Pool tab, select Store belongs to the following document storage pool. Click the KwikSelect to search for and select the pool the store is to be added to, or select from the recently used drop-down list. See Document Store Pools for details on creating pools.
However, you can also set Content Manager to use a particular store based on:
- Record Type - in the Record Type Properties dialog, Electronic page, use the option Use the Nominated Document Store (below) to set the store for objects with that Record Type - see Record Type Electronic page.
- Content Manager object - in the Document Store Properties dialog, Usage tab, tag the Content Manager objects to use that store for - see Configuring the usage details.
Storage Pool Workgroup Server Affinity
When a Workgroup Server selects a document store from the Document Store Pool, the Workgroup Server will preferentially select document stores that it has affinity for. You can use the Add/Remove buttons to select which Workgroup Servers will have affinity for this document store.
This feature allows you to reduce network traffic by directing storage requests to document stores that are located in proximity to the Workgroup Server.
The Content Manager Workgroup Server fills the document stores evenly based on your setup. When a store is full, Content Manager changes its Deployment Status field value to No Additions. When all the stores in the pool are full, Content Manager selects a new pool from the stores available. See also Content Manager Enterprise Studio Help about dataset properties.
Storage space - to view the total storage size of the documents in the store, select the store in the Document Stores window. In the view pane, the field Storage Used displays the storage space the store currently uses.
If the field is not visible, right-click in the view pane and use Customize to add it. See Modifying the view pane.
