Finding communications
You can search for Content Manager communications using practically any of the information about them that is saved in Content Manager.
This is the pane in the main Content Manager window under the toolbars.
Use the fields:
- Search For - select Communications
- Search By - use KwikSelect to select a search method, or type all in the drop-down box
- Matching criteria - enter the data to find
- Run the search button - click to start the search

- On the Search menu, click Find Communications.
The Search for Communications dialogue box appears. - Use the Boolean search editor, or switch to the multi-field editor to use the options:
- All Communications - to find all communications in Content Manager
- For Record - to find communications for a specific record
- For Location - to find communications in which a specific Location was either sender or recipient
- By Date Range - to find all communications within a specific date range
- On the multi-field Filter tab, choose a filter option, if you need it:
- Tag values to select for 'Medium' - limits search to a specific medium:
- Post
- Facsimile
- Courier
- Direction - limits search to:
- Incoming
- Outgoing
- Internal
For example, search results narrowed down to outgoing mail communications can be very useful for label printing.
- Tag values to select for 'Medium' - limits search to a specific medium:
- Click OK.
Content Manager returns the communications that match your criteria. - Optional - to show the Locations involved in a communication, right-click the communication in the search result, and then use Show Locations
TIP: If the Location name was changed between when the communication was created and now:
- The columns Sender and Recipients show the names of the communicating Locations
- The communication Properties - Communication details tab displays the current Location names
- Optional - double-click the record details in the view pane to open a window and display the record
