Setup Information

This function enables you to view the performance of Content Manager, and displays setup details that are relevant to your session.

Some of these details will only display to Content Manager administrators, for example, Global Store Path.

  1. To view the information, click Dataset- Setup Information.

    The Content Manager Setup Information window appears with the following expandable sections:

    • Software versions - displays the currently installed Content Manager version, Document Content Index version, build numbers and the version number of Content Manager Binaries - the dynamic link library files that Content Manager uses.
      • Third Party Software Binaries - displays the currently installed third party software version and build numbers that Content Manager uses.
    • Working folders - displays the location of the files and folders that Content Manager uses. The directory in which these files are written to can be directly opened from this window by double clicking the name of the folder, File Explorer will open to this directory.
    • Network connections - displays the dataset and network details:
      • Primary Content Manager Workgroup Server - displays the server that the Content Manager Workgroup service is running on
      • Backup Content Manager Workgroup Server - displays the server that the Backup Content Manager Workgroup service is running on
      • Connection Protocol - displays the connection protocol the software is using
      • Authentication Method - displays the authentication method the software is using
      • Dataset name - name given to the Content Manager dataset by the administrator
      • Database Type - type of database in use
      • SQL Engine Version - the SQL Engine version number
      • Dataset identifier - unique two character identifier given to the Content Manager dataset by the administrator
      • Dataset schema version - this number identifies the version of the dataset
      • Character Format - the encoding used by the software
      • Document Content Server - main document content server location
      • Site ID - the Site ID number, if used
      • Content Manager user name - staff member name in the dataset that is linked to the current login name
      • User Network Login - login name of the current user
      • Network (RCF) client call timeout - on an established TCP connection, the maximum length of time after the Content Manager Mclient has sent a request to the Content Manager server that the client will wait for a response.

        This value should be relatively large as typically, the Content Manager server needs to send an SQL query to the database before responding.

      • Network (RCF) client connection timeout - maximum length of time a Content Manager client will wait when attempting a TCP connection to the Content Manager server
    • Client object cache settings - shows the different Content Manager objects, how many of them are currently cached and how many are the limit.

    • Software license
      • Licensed to - displays who the Content Manager license holder is, including how many the are the Seats Limited To; the Seat Type Allocations and how many Seats Used
      • Issued by MSP - only displays if the current license has been issued by a Managed Service Provider
      • Seats - displays the number of seats, if applicable
        • Seats Limited To - displays the total number of seats allocated on the license
        • Seat Type Allocations - displays a break down of the number of seats per user type.

        IMPORTANT: Content Manager Select has 3 levels of user types that are the standard Content Manager user types grouped together:
        Administrators, Records Manager, Records Co-ordinator user types count towards the CM Select Administrators type
        Knowledge Worker and Contributor user types counts towards the CM Select Power Users type
        Inquiry user type counts towards the CM Select Inquiry Users

        • Seats Used - double click to calculate the number of seats that have been allocated.
      • Capacity
        • Capacity Limited To - limit of system storage amount in terms of records
        • Capacity Used - records used out of allocated capacity
      • List of purchased modules - the modules purchased by the licence holder appear with a check mark and the word Licensed
    • Security settings - displays the security details of the currently logged on user:
      • User Type - the access type of the user, for example: Administrator or Records Manager
      • User permissions - the permissions that the user has
      • Security Level - the security level allocated to the user
      • Security Caveats - the caveats allocated to the user are shown with a blue check.

        Caveats that the user does not have allocated are indicated with a red cross.

      • Positions, groups and Organizations - the Location details of the user
    • Localization
      • Country - the country that the operating system is configured for
      • Language - the configured language for Content Manager
    • Performance test - test the performance ratings of Content Manager:
      • Performance index - latency - double-click to produce a number that reflects how many times Content Manager can call the Workgroup Server per second.

        The greater the number, the better the performance.

      • Test deadlock detection - for database administrators - this function creates an artificial deadlock to test the deadlock capability of two Content Manager clients accessing a database
    • Client diagnostic logging - this section displays the options for logging on a client machine for diagnostic purposes. To enable the logging type, double click on the activity to be logged, e.g. Record Construction, the status of the logging will update from not active to active.
      • Log File Name - this is the log file for the active logging events, by default it's written to C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Micro Focus\Content Manager\Log By double clicking this option, the log file will open.
      • Log Path - this is the path the log files are written to, by default it's written to C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Micro Focus\Content Manager\Log By double clicking this option, File Explorer will open to this directory.

      NOTE: If the client logging is coming from a service, e.g. Web Service, then the logs will be found in the appropriate WorkPath\Log folder

    • Log Files - this option allows easy access to the log files created by Content Manager. This options display the most recent .log and .dmp files written to associated directory. To view a log file, double click the log file name; to open the log file directory in Windows Explorer, double click the Double click to view all logs option. The log files are split into 3 groups:
      • Client Log Folder
      • Client Log Folder (Per Dataset)
      • Server Log Folder
    • INI file settings - the TRIMMetrics.ini files allows organizations to configure aspects of Content Manager behavior in a single file, rather than having to apply registry changes. By default, the TRIMMetrics.ini file is installed to C:\Program Files\Micro Focus\Content Manager
      When accessed for the first time, the file must be generated. On theContent Manager Setup Information dialog, expand the INI file settings group and double click the INI file row. This will write the TRIMMetrics.ini file to the binary folder, click OK and the file will open. To modify the INI file, the settings and values, that must be provided to organizations by OpenText, are pasted into this file and saved; any modifications will be listed within the INI file settings group in Content Manager Setup Information.
      The INI file has a number of sections included:
      • Core - settings that apply to both servers and clients
      • Server - settings that apply to servers only
      • Client - settings that apply to clients only

      NOTE: If the System Options - User Interface - Lockdown Style is set to Lockdown, the option to create the INI file will only be available to users who have the Administrator and Records Manager user permissions. All other user types will only be able to see any INI file values that have been set.
      As the INI file is saved to the Program Files directory, the user generating the INI file must have Administrator access on the machine.

    • System Options - displays all the features that were modified by the administrator.
    • System Options Defaults - displays the default values for features when the software was installed.
    • Zip Logs - allows you to compress the log files.

      Click Zip Logs and then click Yes in the confirmation dialogue. If you want to include crash dump files, then click Yes in the following confirmation dialogue. Select a location to save the .zip file and enter a name in the File Name. Click Save. The .zip file is opened in the File Explorer.

    • Export button - enabled when Content Manager System Options is selected. Copy the  Content Manager settings to a file, which can be used for troubleshooting.
