Installing Fileshare as a Service

Restriction: This is only applicable to Windows platforms.

You can install Fileshare as a Windows service by entering:

fsservice -i FS32SEV1 /wd C:\support\FS32\DATA /cf C:\support\FS32\FSAD32.CFG
at an application command prompt, where
FS32SEV1
A unique file name.
wd
The Fileshare working directory.
cf
The fully-qualified Fileshare server configuration file.
You can then start and stop it from the Windows Control Panel.

You uninstall Fileshare by entering:

fsservice -u

When you run Fileshare as a service, you must use a configuration file to pass your settings, and this file must be called fs.cfg. It must be in your c:\windows\system32 directory if the cf setting is not used.

In your configuration file, you can use the wd setting to specify your Fileshare directory. The wd setting can also be used when installing the service

When Fileshare is running as a service, you do not get a Fileshare console window, so cannot control it interactively via this window. Consequently:
