To create a system or user SQL Server connection

  1. Be sure you have added your SQL Server database to Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio.
  2. From the HCO for SQL Server interface, click Manage Connections.
  3. On the Connection List tab, select a Connection Type - System or User - for this SQL Server connection.
  4. From the Connection List tab, click New SQL Server Connection.
  5. Specify appropriate Connection Properties.
Note: If you have selected Use SQL Server Login and want HCOSS to remember your ADO.NET password, check Allow Saving ADO.NET Connection Password. Otherwise, the system prompts you for a password each time you connect from other HCOSS tools.
  6. Specify appropriate Data Link Properties as follows:
    1. Specify a SQL Server Instance by selecting from the drop-down list, or by typing the name of your SQL Server instance into the field. If you type in the name of your SQL Server instance rather than selecting it from the drop-down list, you must also click Confirm Server.
    2. If you want to use a database other than the default database, check Use a database other than the default database: dbname, and then select an alternative database from the Database drop-down list.
  7. Click Test.
  8. When the connection tests successfully, click OK to clear the message.
  9. Click Save.

The new connection appears on the Connections List located on the Connections List tab.
