To associate a file extension with COBOL

Enterprise Developer is pre-configured to associate certain file extensions as specific COBOL file types. For example, the following extensions are recognized as COBOL programs - .cbl, .cob, .eco, .pco or .sqb; .cpy and .cbl are recognized as copybooks.

To add file associations for other file extensions:

  1. In the IDE, click Window > Preferences.
  2. Choose General > Content Types.
  3. In the Content type pane, expand Text and click Micro Focus Project Types.
  4. Click on any of the types prefixed COBOL in the list to see which file extensions are associated with that particular type.
  5. To associate a new extension with any particular type, click Add, specify the Content type and then click OK.
