Want to deploy an application

Applications that you develop in Enterprise Developer require a variety of run-time system support files in order to be able to run. When running these applications from Enterprise Developer, these support files are accessed from Enterprise Developer itself, but if you need to deploy these applications to users that do not have Enterprise Developer installed you also need to deploy Enterprise Server to provide the required run-time system support files. When deploying Enterprise Server in this way you can choose to package it with your application's executable files or separately.

Exactly how you deploy an application depends on a number of factors such as the type of application (native or managed), the environment you are deploying to, and whether you want to provide a setup program. This topic of the Help helps to you determine exactly how best to deploy the applications that you have developed.

Where to start?

Once you have compiled your application, locate the application's executable files and any configuration files required during run time. How you deploy then depends on the type of application:

What next?

There are a number of different examples from Micro Focus about applications you can deploy:

Note: Some of the videos use Visual COBOL but the information equally applies to Enterprise Developer.

Also, check the Micro Focus Enterprise Developer YouTube videos that show how to develop applications that run on the mainframe.
