Mainframe Batch Database Tools (MBDT)

The MBDT toolset provides basic batch utility support for the following z/OS DB2 utilities:

DSNTEP2
Enables you to execute SQL DDL and DML in a target DBMS using an SQLTP2 alias.

DSNTEP2 accepts native DBMS DDL and DML syntax for DB2 LUW, Oracle, and SQL Server by default. DSNTEP2 also accepts z/OS DB2 DDL and DML syntax for SQL Server. See MBDT Configuration Utility for details.

DSNUTILB
Enables you to load or unload your data to or from the target DBMS using an SQLUTB alias.

The versions of DSNTEP2 and DSNUTILB provided by Micro Focus initialize the OpenESQL compiler directives required to set up the appropriate environment parameters, and then call OpenESQL runtime functions. They always use ODBC to communicate with target DBMSs. To enable ODBC support, you must define an XAR to Enterprise Server that uses the ODBC generic one-phase commit switch module. See Generic One-phase Commit for ODBC RM Switch Module for details.

Note: We provide MBDT for DB2 LUW, SQL Server, Oracle, and PostgreSQL for Windows and limited UNIX 32-bit and 64-bit environments. See Additional Software Requirements on Linux and UNIX for details. Additional restrictions apply as specified in this topic. Also, MBDT is supported on UNIX via command line only.
