XDB Link AR Security

Security for XDB Link AR is handled by the XDB Server and your existing mainframe security scheme. The user is required to provide user ID and password before accessing local or remote data.

If Global Security is turned on and the location includes the XDB Server, then the security scheme is controlled by the existing scheme on the host. Otherwise, when using XDB Server, you must set up user IDs and passwords that match the user IDs and passwords on the remote DBMS. For example, if you have a user ID of 'DAVIDH' for DB2, you should also create a user ID of 'DAVIDH' for XDB Server. This is easily accomplished with the User Administration function of SQLWizard.

If you are using the host option of XDB Link AR, you can set up additional security on the mainframe. The host programs can be secured by external security managers, such as RACF or Top Secret, and can be maintained from the PC through XDB Link AR using the PEM utility. This process is described in the Link Configuration Guide.
