AppMaster Builder in Eclipse IDE vs. AppMaster Builder in Mainframe Express IDE

Shows the Eclipse IDE equivalents to Mainframe Express IDE features.
Restriction: This topic applies to Windows environments only.

Application View

The following table shows AppMaster Builder in Mainframe Express IDE features available from the Application View, and their corresponding equivalents and locations in Eclipse.
Important: All actions described in the AppMaster Builder in Enterprise Developer for Eclipse columns assume that the AppMaster Builder perspective is open and active in the Eclipse IDE. To open the AppMaster Builder perspective:
  1. Start Enterprise Developer for Eclipse.
  2. From the Enterprise Developer for Eclipse IDE, click Window > Perspective > Open Perspective > Other.
  3. Select AppMaster Builder; then click OK.

Project Control
Create New Project From the Application View, click Admin > Project Data Set > New Project. From the Eclipse menu, click Admin > Project > Create.
Delete Project Right-click a project on the Application View tree and select Delete from the context menu. Click Admin > Project > Delete.
Start Online Express Double-click an Online Express program on the Application View tree. Double-click an Online Express program on the Project Explorer.
Set User Preferences From the Application View, click Options > User Preferences. From the AppMaster Builder perspective, click AMB preferences page AppMaster Builder preferences page.
Start the Screen Painter Double-click a screen on the Application View tree. Double-click a screen on the Project Explorer.
Create a User Area From the Application View, click Options > User Preferences, Project tab. From the Eclipse menu, click User > User Area > Create.
Delete a User Area From the Eclipse menu, click User > User Area > Delete.
Clean a User Area From the Eclipse menu, click User > User Area > Clean.
Add an Object Right-click an Application View tree entry and select Add from the context menu. Right-click aProject Explorer entry and select Add > objectType from the context menu.
Rename an Object Right-click an Application View tree entry and select Rename from the context menu. Right-click a Project Explorer entry and select Rename from the context menu.
Remove an Object Right-click an Application View tree entry and select Remove from the context menu. Right-click a Project Explorer entry and select Remove from the context menu.
Start the Program Painter Select the program on the Application View tree and click Actions > Program Painter. Double-click a Program Painter program on the Project Explorer.
Start the Analysis Browser Right-click an Application View tree entry and select Analysis Option > Analysis Browser from the context menu. To analyze a project, right-click the project on the Project Explorer, and select Analysis Option > Analysis Option for Project.

To analyze an application, right-click the application on the Project Explorer, and select Analysis Option > Analysis Option for Application.

Set object parameters From the Application View, click the object for which you want to set parameters; then select parameters using the field at the top of the desktop. Right-click an object on the Project Explorer and select Properties from the context menu.
Copy and Add a File From the Application View, click File > Copy + Add . Right-click an object on the Project Explorer and select Copy + Add from the context menu.
Start the Object Finder From the Application View, click File > Object Finder. Not supported
Find an object in an application From the Application View, click File > Find Object in Applications. Not supported
Start APSSRC From the Application View, click File > APSSRC. Not supported
Select Multiple Map Mapsets From the Application View, click Actions > Multiple Map Mapset. In the Project Explorer, right-click either the project name or a blank area; then select Generate Multiple Map Mapset from the context menu.
Generating
Generate from the Command Line From the Application View, click Actions > Command Line Generation. Not supported from the IDE
View Job Queue Listings From the Application View or the Data View, click Options > Job Queue Listings. From the AppMaster Builder perspective, click Job Queue Job Queue.
Start AppMaster Builder Server Starts automatically when you start AppMaster Builder. Starts automatically when you open the AppMaster Builder perspective. To toggle it on and off from the AppMaster Builder perspective, click Start AppMaster Builder Server Start AppMaster Builder Server or Stop AppMaster Builder Server Stop AppMaster Builder Server.
Generate an application Right-click an application on the Application View tree, and select Generate > Generate Application. Right-click an application on the Project Explorer and select Generate Application from the context menu.
Generate all programs Right-click an application on the Application View tree, and select Generate > Generate All Programs. All Program Painter programs: Right-click an application on the Project Explorer and select Generate All Programs from the context menu.

All Online Express programs: Right-click an application on the Project Explorer and select Generate All Online Express from the context menu.

Generate all screens Right-click an application on the Application View tree, and select Generate > Generate All Screens. Right-click an application on the Project Explorer and select Generate All Screens from the context menu.
Generate an Online Express program into an APSPROG member Select an Online Express program on the Application View tree; then click Actions > Generate Express. Right-click an Online Express program on the Project Explorer and select Generate Online Express from the context menu.
Generate a data structure Right-click a data structure on the Application View tree, and select Generate. Right-click a data structure on the Project Explorer and select Generate Data Structure from the context menu.
Generate one screen Right-click a screen on the Application View tree, and select Generate. Right-click a screen on the Project Explorer and select Generate Screen from the context menu.
Editing
Edit Data Structures Double-click a data structure on the Application View tree. Double-click a data structure on the Project Explorer.
Edit User Rules Double-click a user rule on the Application View tree. Double-click a user rule on the Project Explorer.
Undo new edits From the Application View, click Edit > Undo New. Not supported
Redo new edits From the Application View, click Edit > Redo New. Not supported
Create Application Edits From the Application View, click Admin > Application Edit List. Not supported
Reporting
Generate an Online Express report Right-click an Online Express program from the Application View and select Report from the context menu. Right-click an Online Express program on the Project Explorer and select Online Express Report from the context menu.
Generate a Program report Right-click an Online Express program from the Application View and select Report from the context menu. Right-click a program on the Project Explorer and select Report from the context menu.
Importing
Import BMS From the Application View, click Interfaces > Import BMS. Not supported
Import MFS From the Application View, click Interfaces > Import MFS. Not supported
Additional Features
Control Source Code From the Application View, access the Source Control menu. Not supported
Manage Workgroup Libraries From the Application View, click Admin > Manage Workgroup Libraries. Edit the workgroup definition file using a text editor.
Migrate from APS to AppMaster Builder From the Application View, click Admin > APS to AMB Migration . Not supported
Change Admin password From the Application View, click Admin > Change Admin Password. From the Eclipse menu, click Admin > Change Admin Password.
Migrate Data Elements From the Application View, click Admin > Data Element Migration . Not supported
Start DDI File Utilities From the Application View, click Admin > DDI File Utilities > Unlock, Restore, Backup, Reorganize. From the Eclipse menu, click Admin > DDI File Utilities > Unlock, Restore, Backup, Reorganize.
Administer user variables From the Application View, click Admin > User Variables. Not supported
Add/Delete/Modify User Menu items From the Application View, click Admin > User Menu. Not supported

Data Views

The Data View Explorer in Enterprise Developer for Eclipse has been completely redesigned, and provides not only the functionality provided with AppMaster Builder in Mainframe Express, but also provides additional functionality. For complete information on using the Data Views feature, see the topics in the Data Views section of the AppMaster Builder documentation. The following is a summary of changes for common tasks:

Start Data View From the AppMaster Builder Desktop, click the Database View tab. From the AppMaster Builder perspective, click the Data View Explorer tab.
Create a data view In the Data View Manager, click File > New. In the Data View Explorer, right-click the Data Views entry and choose Add Data View.
Create new data source files In the Data View Manager, click File > Load/Build. In the Data View Explorer, right-click a data view; then select Add > data-source-type from the context menu.
Load source files for a data view In the Data View Manager, click a database view on the list, then click File > Open.Select the source and file, click Load, then click OK. Delete. You no longer load data views, but instead you add data sources and generate data views.
Load a workgroup into a data view From the Application View, click Options > User Preferences. Select Workgroup in the Preferences dialog box. Select a workgroup, then click OK. Set up workgroups from the AppMaster Builder preferences page.
Delete a database target file In the Database View Manager, double-click the database view that contains the source file you want to delete. Select the file and click Delete. In the Data View Explorer, right click a data source entry; then select Remove from the context menu.
To delete a source member In the Database View folder, double-click any database view name. Select the source member you want to delete and click Delete. In the Data View Explorer, right click a data source entry; then select Delete from the context menu.
Edit a database source file In the Database View Manager, click File > Load/Build. Click the type of source you want to modify, then click Edit. In the Data View Explorer, double-click the data source name and edit the source as necessary in the AMB editor or, for a SQL schema, from the SQL Schema Maintenance dialog box.

Data Element View

The Data Element View is not supported in Enterprise Developer.
