Remote Server Configuration

Restriction: This topic applies to Windows environments only.

The remote XDB Server must be configured and started, and privileges must be granted. In the examples, the remote XDB Server is sales.

If security is on, clients must have privileges on the tables they wish to access on the remote server. Be sure to grant the appropriate privileges to each client on the remote server.

AuthIDs (usernames) are created using the SQL Wizard Admin menu (Windows) or the CREATE USER command in Interactive SQL (UNIX). Privileges are granted using SQL GRANT command from the SQL Wizard (Windows) or Interactive SQL (UNIX). See the chapter Security and Authority for more information on AuthIDs and privileges.

AuthID mapping can make this task much easier in a large distributed environment. See the chapter Multiserver Security for more information about AuthID mapping.
