Configure a Region or Cross-Region Database in Enterprise Server

  1. In the table of servers on the Home page of Enterprise Server Administration, click Edit to the left in the row for the required enterprise server region.
  2. Add the following environment variables to your enterprise server region:
    Variable setting Purpose
    ES_DB_FH=Y Enables the Micro Focus Database File Handler
    ES_DB_SERVER=<DB-instance-name> Specifies the database instance in which the resources are stored
    Note: The types of resources stored are determined by the feature attribute specified for the region database in the configuration file.
    MFDBFH_CONFIG=<path-filename-config-file> Locates the configuration file containing the list of data sources and their database types
    MFDBFH_SCRIPT_DIR=<path-to-scripts> Locates the stored procedures required for Enterprise Server to interact with a database
  3. Cold-(re)start the enterprise server region.
    Tip: You can cold-start a region using the /s:c option with the casstart command on the command line.

    Once the region is back up and running, you can view the console log to confirm that the region and cross-region databases were created successfully - the relevant entries are prefixed DBFH.
