To create an IMS-enabled enterprise server from the IDE

  1. From the Eclipse IDE, open Server Explorer.

If it is hidden, display it by choosing Window > Show View > Server Explorer.

  2. Right-click Local [localhost:86], and click New > Enterprise Server.
  3. Type a name for your enterprise server region into the Name field.
  4. Check either 32-bit or 64-bit.
  5. Click the browse button next to the Template field.

This opens the location of the Enterprise Developer server templates which is %ProgramFiles(x86)%\Micro Focus\Enterprise Developer\etc\ServerTemplates by default, where is your Visual Studio installation directory.

  6. Select IMSTemplate.xml, and click Open.
Note: The IMS template sets the character codeset to ASCII by default. If your application uses EBCDIC, you must change this on your enterprise server's MSS IMS General page. See Server Instance Properties: MSS IMS General for more information.
  7. In the Associate with projects box, check an IMS project that contains the application you want to run on the new enterprise server.
  8. Click Finish.

The Console view displays a notification that the server has been created.

  9. Check Server Explorer to see that the new enterprise server has been added to localhost.
