Using Enterprise Developer with Containers

This section of the documentation contains information on how you can use Enterprise Developer with containers so that you can work with your COBOL and PL/I applications in containers.

It contains general information on containers, information for using containers with COBOL applications, and detailed information about the container demonstrations that are supplied with Enterprise Developer that guide you through all the steps involved in creating containers to work with COBOL and PL/I applications.

Note: A separate document, Best Practices for Moving Your COBOL Applications to Containers, is available that describes best practices that Micro Focus recommends you adopt when moving an existing COBOL application to run in a containerized environment. See Micro Focus: Best Practices for Moving Your COBOL Applications to Containers for more information.
Note: The container-related information included in this documentation includes information for both Enterprise Developer for Eclipse and Enterprise Developer UNIX Components, although not all information is relevant to both of those products. Where information is relevant to one product but not the other, this is indicated.

Additionally, any references to Enterprise Developer Build Tools for Windows are not relevant to you if you are using Enterprise Developer UNIX Components and you can treat these references as if they were to Enterprise Developer UNIX Components. Any references to Enterprise Developer Build Tools for Windows that are not relevant to users of Enterprise Developer UNIX Components in any context are indicated.
