Changing Your Current Location and SQLID

SQLWizard allows you to connect to a different location than the one you are currently using without exiting the program. If you have an alternate AuthID, you can change that also. These changes are made by clicking on the Set Location command from the Location menu or by clicking the Set button on the Catalog Browser dialog box.

In some cases, it may not be necessary to change to another location. For example, to query data that resides in another location of the XDB Server to which you are connected, simply enter a three-part name for the table being queried. It is also possible to set up alias names for tables in other locations.

Note: To change to a location on another XDB Server on your LAN, you must exit SQLWizard and restart it, choosing the desired server and location when the Connect dialog box appears. To change your default XDB Server and Location, use the Connect tab in the Options utility. If your organization uses the server-to-server connectivity features, you can access locations on multiple XDB Servers without having to log on to each individually.

To set the current location and SQLID:

  1. From the Location menu, choose the Set Location command.
    Note:

  4. Click OK to accept the changes. The current location and SQLID are displayed in the status bar at the bottom of the SQLWizard window.
