Performance Considerations

How you configure an enterprise server instance for performance depends on a number of factors. One obvious factor is the expected workload of the server. You need to consider the frequency with which client requests arrive, and the required speed of response to those requests.

Two more factors are the type of services that run within the server and the type of requests for the services. Services can be categorized as I/O-bound or CPU-bound, while client requests can be categorized as short-running or long-running.
