Communications Log

This log contains a cumulative, chronological list of all communications processes run by an enterprise server region. It contains messages from the communications manager and any associated listeners including a date and time stamp for each. Messages show information related to specific processes including the addresses and port numbers used.

When multiple communications processes are running, the date and time stamp at the beginning of each message is followed by an instance identifier in square brackets, for example, [2].

Uses
Use the communications log to review server communications for individual enterprise server regions and to identify communications problems when troubleshooting.

The default configuration for communications logs is to have one communications log for each enterprise server region. Communications messages generated for the enterprise server region are added to the file during each session, creating a cumulative log of all communications processes run on that server. You can manually archive and then delete the communications log to begin a new one at the next server startup.
Note: To keep cumulative logs from growing to unmanageable sizes, your Enterprise Server administrator can activate the rotating log files feature. This might change the number of log-n files for each server. Check with your administrator for details.
