Setting Up the User Environment

The previous step spoke of the need to use a valid user login. Once you have those details, you need to set them in your user environment by adding the values to the variables mentioned below.

To set up your user environment to use Acu4GL, you must do the following:

• Set the A_MSSQL_LOGIN and A_MSSQL_PASSWD variables, either in your environment or in the ACUCOBOL-GT runtime configuration file. Alternately, set the configuration variable A_MSSQL_NT_AUTHENTICATION to TRUE. For security reasons, it is best to set the password variable from your COBOL program by asking the user to enter a password and then executing:

  SET ENVIRONMENT "A_MSSQL_PASSWD" TO user-entry

• Make a personalized copy of the ACUCOBOL-GT runtime configuration file and populate it with configuration variables to suit your requirements; see Configuration File Variables for more information. Ensure the configuration file is in effect when you run your Acu4GL application.
