3.15 Global Preferences

Global preferences are options that affect the way all sessions operate. They are not specific to a particular session.

For example, you can specify whether to be prompted when you disconnect a session from the host. If you select this option, you will be asked if you want to disconnect from the session when you choose Exit Session or Exit Extra!

The Global Preferences dialog box has three tabbed pages. Settings for each page are as follows:

General page: Enables startup and exit functions, and Advanced page settings.

Advanced page: Assigns shortnames to sessions for HLLAPI purposes.

Files/Directories page: Specifies the name of a macro to run (if any) when you run Extra!, the macro search path, and the locations of schemes and settings files.

You can set the following types of options:

  • Session and application opening and closing options (General page)

  • Advanced options for the Record Pages command (General page)

  • Assign and remove HLLAPI shortnames to sessions, and select the HLLAPI transport type (Advanced page)

  • Change the type (physical configuration) of Keyboard assigned during the Setup routine (Advanced page)

  • Specify the default paths for startup macros and the locations of schemes and settings files (Files/Directories page)
