Recommendations and Guidelines

  • / (System Disk)

  • 24 GB fixed

  • /vastorage

A large, Filr-clustered appliance store the following in /vastorage:

  • Configuration files that are used for appliance upgrades.

  • Ganglia files that store monitoring information.

In most cases, 10 GB should be more than sufficient.

  • /var

Filr appliances store the following in /var:

  • System event logs

    • The maximum size is 100 MB per log file.

    • The system automatically deletes log files older than 30 days.

    • Therefore, log files are basically capped at 3 GB but the worksheet allows for 4 GB as a buffer.

  • Memory core dumps

Micro Focus recommends reserving space for three core dumps, so total RAM times 3

  • RAM

The default RAM for Filr appliances is 16 GB.

  • CPUs

  • 4 CPUs is standard.
