Running the Session Server Service as a Dedicated User with Reduced Privileges

In the interest of security, you should run the session server service as a dedicated user with reduced privileges.

Note

You must repeat these steps after any product upgrades.

To do this on a Windows platform:

  1. After first installing the product, create a standard user.

  2. Give the user full control over the following directories:

    • <install_dir>\sessionserver\logs
    • <install_dir>\sessionserver\tmp
  3. From the Windows Services dialog box, stop the Micro Focus Host Access for the Cloud Session Server service.

  4. Open the Properties of the Host Access for the Cloud Session Server service.

  5. Open the Log On tab and select This account.

  6. Enter the user name and password of the user who is going to run the service.

  7. Start the session server service.

To do this on Unix / Linux:

  1. Follow the steps above but adjust them accordingly for your environment and distribution.
