What’s Hot and What’s New

The What’s Hot and What’s New functions allow you to see changes in the body of documents that you have in IDOL. Both cases use IDOL clustering to create sets of related documents.

The What’s Hot function measures how similar the documents in a cluster are, and how narrow the range of concepts in that cluster are. When a cluster contains a lot of very similar data, it has a higher What’s Hot score, so higher scores represent more important trends.

The What’s New function compares two sets of data, and identifies clusters that occur in one set but not the other.

TIP:

You can also use What’s New to compare different types of data; for example, you might compare your documents to profiles of your users.
