The .RTM File

When you enable response time monitoring for a session, a binary response time monitor (.RTM) file is created. This file includes the following information:

  • The workstation ID and session ID as specified from the Session Preferences dialog box

  • The date when the file was created

  • The size, date, and time of each transmission sent by the PC

  • The size, date, and time of each response sent by the host

The InfoConnect Response Time Monitor Utility uses this raw data to calculate the information that it displays in its application window.By default, the name of the .RTM file matches the name of the associated session, and it is created in the ACCMGR32 folder in the InfoConnect folder. However, when you configure a session using the Session Preferences dialog box, you can specify the name and location for this for this file, as well as how much data to collect in it, and the workstation and session IDs to use.The data in this file is compressed. You can monitor about 80,000 transmissions and responses before the file reaches 1 MB. However, this file will continue to increase in size unless you disable response time monitoring or otherwise configure the session to limit the amount of data in the file. For more information about these options, refer to the Help for Section 1.0, InfoConnect Accessory Manager.
