Merging from Another Relativity Data Source

  1. With the catalog that is to be the destination of the merge open in the Relativity Designer, on the Tools menu, click Merge from Another Relativity Data Source.

The Open Existing Data Source dialog box is displayed.

  2. On the Open Existing Data Source dialog box, click the data source currently shown, select the data source that is the source of the merge, and then click Connect.

If the catalog associated with this data source has no security (that is, no group owner), the catalog is opened immediately; if this is the case, you are advised to add some privileges to the catalog - see Catalog Ownership and procedures on how to define catalog ownership.

If the catalog has a group owner, the Database Logon dialog box is displayed.

  3. Complete the fields in the Database Logon dialog box, then click Login:
    • UserId - the name of the owning group or the name of a user in the owner group.
    • Password - the group/user may not have a password set; if not, leave this field blank.

The Data Source Importer tab is opened, displaying the items you may import on the Tables and the Files tabs.

  4. To import a table, click the Tables tab, and in the Tables to merge column, select one or more tables to be imported.

If the table name conflicts with an existing table name in the catalog, you must edit the table name in the Merged Table Name column.

Note: When a table is selected, its associated file definition is also selected, ready to import.
  5. To import a file definition, click the Files tab, and in the Files to merge column, select one or more files to be imported.

If the file name conflicts with an existing file definition in the catalog, you must edit the name in the Merged File Name column.

  6. To import a user data type, click the User Data Types tab, select one or more data types to be imported.

If the file name conflicts with an existing file definition in the catalog, you must edit the name in the Merged Data Type Name column.

  7. Click Save to Catalog.

The selected items are imported, and displayed in the Catalog Explorer.

  8. Close the Data Source Importer tab.
