User-Defined Action Fields Tab

The User-defined Action Fields tab of the New Action for State dialog allows you to add fields to the action dialog of a given action.

Eight field positions
These fields appear on the action dialog in addition to the standard action fields. For example, the Hours to Fix field might be selected from the list to appear on the action dialog for the Fixed action in the Dev-Ready state.
Sources
The fields that appear in the list boxes on the User-defined Action Fields tab are there for one of two reasons:
  • Custom fields were defined through Issues > Configuration > Custom Issue Tabs to define custom fields which are also visible on the issue details Custom tab.
  • Custom fields were defined through Issues > Configuration > Custom Field Pool, which are only relevant for actions.
Defining Fields on an action dialog
  1. Click Issues > Configuration > Custom Issue Tabs to define custom fields which are also visible on the issue details Custom tab. You can also use custom fields that were created through Issues > Configuration > Custom Field Pool, which are only relevant for actions.
  2. Configure the field properties as explained in GUI Customization Properties.
  3. The custom fields you create can then be selected from the list boxes on the User-defined Actions Field tab.
  4. For each defined field, you can select an option from the list to specify whether a field is required and whether the field should be cleared before a tester performs the action. By default, fields stay as they were configured during definition and are not cleared.
Note: Check boxes cannot be set to be required and cannot be cleared.
