Merging Assets

Compare two different assets of the same type or two versions of the same asset to merge differences between the assets or the asset versions.

Choose View > Asset Browser or select Get Started > Asset Browser in the Start Screen.
From the Asset Types list, select the asset type. You can merge differences between assets or asset versions for the following asset types:
- Visual test
- .NET script
- Object map
The existing assets of the selected type for the selected project display in the right pane.
Tip: If you do not see the assets that you are interested in, ensure that the correct project is selected in the Active Project list.
To compare two different assets of the same type:
1. Use Ctrl+Click to select the two assets that you want to compare.
2. Right-click on the selection.
3. Click View Differences.
To compare two versions of the same asset:
1. Right-click on the asset that you are interested in and select Show All Versions.
2. In the Version Detail dialog, use Ctrl+Click to select the two versions that you want to compare.
3. Click View Differences.
To switch between the differences, use Next Difference and Previous Difference in the toolbar.
To merge the selected difference:
- Click Copy Left to merge the selected difference from the version or asset that is displayed in the right pane to the version or asset that is displayed in the left pane.
- Click Copy Right to merge the selected difference from the version or asset that is displayed in the left pane to the version or asset that is displayed in the right pane.

Silk Test Workbench shows the differences as follows:

Changes are highlighted in amber.
Additions are highlighted in green.
Items that do not exist in one of the compared assets are grayed out.

Note: While a Silk Test Workbench user is comparing or merging an active version of an asset, the asset is locked and cannot be edited by another user. If an asset is already open for editing in another window and you try to compare or merge an active version of the the asset, the version is opened in read-only mode. This is indicated in the title bar of the version.
